Thank you to the 879 Birkdale residents who put their trust in me on Thursday 7th May. I am truly grateful for your support. While I was ultimately unsuccessful, I am proud of our campaign and I have enjoyed meeting and speaking with fellow Birkdale residents over the past year. I am grateful to Sonya Kelly for all her help and deeply saddened that we have lost such a dedicated and highly effective Councillor.

My enthusiasm for Birkdale remains as strong as ever. I look forward to continuing my involvement in our local community – including as a volunteer with the Friends of Bedford Park, Steward of our community Book Box, and volunteer at Southport Football Club. On Friday 15 May, I will be running in the inaugural Mascot Grand National at Aintree Racecourse as Sandy the Lion, Southport FC’s club mascot, raising funds for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.

Congratulations to Cllr Iain Brodie-Brown, Cllr Simon Shaw & Cllr Mike Ryder on their successful election as Councillors for Birkdale.

Best wishes,
Callum Naylor

Great event at Bedford Park last weekend - Bat Walk and Talk.

The evening was really informative, and fascinating to see the number of bats thriving in the park.

Thanks to Friends of Bedford Park and Billinge Bat Rescue for organising such an engaging and educational evening!

Latest update on the ‘Half-Barrier Crossing’ at Crescent Road / Grosvenor Road - following on from the previous update in December

December: www.facebook.com/share/p/1CCdmYrLGFLEVEL CROSSING ANNOUNCEMENT

I am so pleased to say we are finally getting double barriers at the Crescent Road level crossing. I have received news this morning that the funding has been approved, and they are hoping to award the contract in the next few weeks. The new crossing should be commissioned May 2027. The single barrier level crossing has been recognised for a while as needing an upgrade, and thanks to the help of Patrick Hurley MP for Southport we are now getting a successful outcome.

Contrary to what some people are saying, I am re-standing in Birkdale in the May elections and I hope I can continue working hard in the community for the residents of Birkdale and Southport.
